How was the shoot today?

“I haven’t worn these types of suits before, but they are all very individualistic. Normally, I would choose simple suits that accentuate my body, so this feels very fresh. When I saw the Tokyo fashion show for the first time, although I thought that the designs and streaks were inconceivably interesting, I do want to get to know the style and feel of fashion that only Tokyo has. The only thing is that my time in Tokyo is very short, so that might be hard to do.”

Did you buy anything from the Winter catalog?

“In Japan, I bought a long jacket, sweater, boots, and scarves, with the colors revolving around black, gray, and tan. Sometimes they’re asymmetrical, sometimes the design has more details to it, but basically they’re all simple and casual styles. Now, wearing clothes is more enjoyable compared to the past.”

The long-anticipated album has finally been released…

Entirely unique and utterly different from one another, the chemistry between the two has also become part of their appeal.

Yunho: It's not just the voices. There are many more aspects in which we are complete opposites. For example, I'm the type who likes to go out and have fun with my friends whilst Changmin likes to sit back and relax at home. We're very different deep down. My room is incredibly simplistic while the floor in Changmin's room is packed with games and stereo sets… (he's) very practical so he doesn't go out much. Even though we live together, we don't see each other much at home. To me, it feels somewhat lonely.

Changmin: Even though we have separate rooms now, we did use to share a room. We've lived together for 7 years now, it feels good to not have to see one another every now and then (laughs). If we were to live in the same room again? I don't want to (how straightforward). Whenever Yunho is nearby, everything gets messy (laughs).

Yunho: It's true. Back then, I'd toss things everywhere and Changmin would trail behind me tidying it up. We are complete polar opposites in this area.

The two are different even in the way they love.

Tohoshinki finally breaks their silence and makes a comeback.

For months, fans have yearned to see their smiling faces and witness their joy of carrying out their activities. Yunho and Changmin talks to us about the present and their hopes for the future.

Our time spent away from being on stage helped us grow

Having been plagued by sorry and misery for nearly an entire year, the two decided to restart their activities under the name of 'Tohoshinki', making a comeback with their new title track 'Why? (Keep Your Head Down).

Yunho: Even though it's been a painful year, at the same time it helped us grow. I've looked back to the past and paid more attention to the present and I'm constantly assessing how to go on… Also, the time spent away from the stage enabled us to really feel the thrill of being able to perform on stage in new ways. When our own activities were suspended, we'd go and watch live performances by our seniors and think to ourselves 'I want to stand on stage again as soon as possible'

In unison, the two expressed that their greatest wish now is 'to see the fans soon'.

Q. Firstly, please talk about your activities that took place in 2010.

YH: My solo activities included the Michael Jackson tribute concert, a musical, as well as a web-drama.
CM: I was filming for the drama from January to June, as well as participating in photoshoots for magazines.
YH: Also, as TVXQ, the both of us took part in SM TOWN concerts in various countries like Korea, China and America.

Q. With the start of 2011, the activities for the both of you in Japan will also begin. Are you still living together?

CM: Yes. We go bowling occasionally.

Q. The two of you together, doesn't it catch people's eyes?

YH: That's why we'll go with our mangers, but we still get recognized (laughs). But if people greet me, I'll respond naturally, so it's not like I mind being recognized in particular.
CM: I mind. I don't really like crowded places, so I'll bowl separately on purpose. But I still get recognized...
YH: But it's not a bad thing that both of us live together.

CHANGMIN
I have no confidence in saying that I’ve become a man! For love, it will start if we can get along.

Q. What kind of approach will you take on the person you like?

I guess I’ll use our friendship for a start (laughs). I’m not too good at flowery approaches, so I think I’ll gather everyone together and suggest a meal. I would be happy if a girl uses the such an approach to go after me. The pressure is lower and something will develop naturally♪

Q. A special sign you’ll show to the person you like is?

I think there are 2 types of men. There’s the type that tries hard to express their liking and the type that looks out for the other person’s feelings. When it comes to love, I will have a lot of negative considerations, so I belong to the latter. (But) in order to know the other person’s attitude (towards me) I might send a short e-mail; or in order to attract her, I might even show a sign. There might be others who are little more than amateurs like myself, so I hope that girls will give a little push as well and not just wait (laughs).

1.What kind of fashion do you like?
Recently i Like trenchcoats with boots on, and clothes look cool and easy to wear.

2.Why do you prefer that kind of fashion?
Because I can wear it to the gym. I go about 3 times a week to the gym now.

3.Your skin is really beautiful. Do you have a secret?
Is it really.. Well, I drink lots of water.

4.Why do you think guys in korea always have this idea of putting "lady's First"?
It's probably because in korea, boys are told by their parent from when they're young men must protect woman. Also in dramas these kind of men are very common, so that probably also influences guys in korea.

5.From the outside you lokk like the coll and healing type but in reality you're the predating type aren't you? (in regards to women)
Maybe I'm like that because I'm leader type? I'll confess that I am.

6. What is your type of women?
Someone who's bright and optimistic, and who can give me good advice.

7.What are the defferences between women in japan and in korea?
I think the style and character of women in japan are stronger than in korea. Recently, the girly type of women in korea has been increasing.

8.What kind of clothes would you want a girl to wear for you?
Suits are nice, but also if she wore proper looking clothes like jeans with matching colorful tops would make me very happy too.

9.What hot spot in korea would you recommend to go to?
Jebbu town. The road along the town is near the ocean and the pull and ebb of the tide is very beautiful.

10.If you went on a date in korea where would you go?
Seoul Tower. On the Top of seoul tower there's a place where you can hang a key holder of just the two of you. I want to do that kind of "couple-ish" things.

11.Where would you go on a date in japan?
I want to go a winter festival in sapporo City.

12.What is a japanese word that you like?
Optimistic. (maemuki)

13.What is a korean word that is popular these days?
Chyadonamu. It means a guys with a cold and good looking appearance. Recently, these kind of guys have become very popular. When there are guys like this in dramas, people quickly exclaim" Chyadonamu".

14.What is a japanese food that you like?
Motsunabe (kind of japanese hot spot). It has a very plain and refresing taste that's very delicious.

15.What was a dream you had as a child?
To be a public prosecutor. when I was young, I always heard of problems between relationships in households and relatives. Even as a child I was told that I grew up saying "I want toprotect justice!" But before I knew it I had entered into this world of singing(laugh).

[TRANS] 101221 HoMin for Ginger Magazine - 'None of the Smiles are Genuine' Part 2

CM: I used to always be the youngest one, but recently I've been working with people who are even younger than me. On top of that, there are now some members of staff who follow me when I'm working on my individual activities. Since I have new responsibilities, I hope to share some of Yunho's responsibility besides simply being a member of TVXQ.

YH: Changmin has really begun to exude the aura of a leader recently… sometimes he acts more like the hyung than I do (laughs). Changmin is an adult now and we're equal, as long as it's his decision, I won't have a problem with it. This means that I now have more time and there's a new type of atmosphere between the two of us. It makes me really happy.

Q: So Changmin's days as the maknae are over?
CM: I'm not bragging in any way. Age and experience go hand in hand and so Yunho will always be better. I don't think 2 or 3 years is enough for an artist to really develop. It's a continuous process and you'll get better over time. Right now, I have to really focus and give my 100%, I think I can do that.

Q: Given the circumstances, is there any aspect where you feel you could make a breakthrough?
CM: Be it singing or acting, as a 22 year old male, I want to further express the sentiments of romantic love. Even though it sounds so mature, it's just something I've had on my mind. Whether it is love I'm experiencing now or emotions from past relationships, I think what I need to do now is to fully express it, that's something I didn't used to do.

Q: Ah. When have you been in a relationship in the past? Are you in one now?
CM: Haha, it's a shame. It's been so cold this winter… I feel myself being chilled to the bone (laughs).

Q: I see that learning to dodge the question is another sign of you maturing
CM: Well, Yunho will be taking part in his musical this Christmas, I hope I'll have something to do too.

Q: I heard that the two of you are still living together?
YH: Yeah, we're like brothers (laughs). We used to sleep in the same room, but now we've separated. We'll eat together whenever we have time and play video games that we take from the staff, or we'll watch DVDs and sports programmes, and argue with one another.

Q: Haven't you ever thought of dating?
YH: I don't have that kind of luck! But I really want to get married, if I ever meet the right person, I'd definitely confess. Like I said, this year was like a turning point. Next year will mark the beginning of our activities; it'll be an important year for myself and for TVXQ and it'll give us the opportunity to further ourselves.

Q: Seeing as it's a time of adjustment, is there anything you'd like to say?
YH: Rather than saying it's been a difficult year, more than anything, it's been lonely. There's no real reason for it other than the simple fact that there are some things that only we ourselves would know and understand. I think Changmin feels the same. I promised myself that 'I'll continue to work hard from now on. In order to repay all the people who have continued to support us, we must come back.'

CM: None of the smiles you see are genuine, it's because I have no choice; it's the only thing I can do.* I'll bring myself to the next level and I'll learn to spread my wings and fly. My dream has always been and will always be the same, as part of TVXQ, I hope to produce music that will go down in history. That's how Yunho and I feel.

* Putting a smile on my face like this is no easy feat, without absolute focus, one could not possibly hope to accomplish anything.

[TRANS] 101220 JYJ’s First Interview “We Consider Ourselves As TVXQ Before JYJ”

JYJ, comprising of Yoochun, Jaejoong and Junsu from the original Hallyu idol group TVXQ, have taken their first step once more. Through their first heart-to-heart interview, they conveyed their honest opinions on the current situation, plans for the future, and their lawsuit with SM Entertainment.

They, who have been born again as JYJ from TVXQ, stated that they have never forgotten their ‘TVXQ’ roots. Though they are walking down a tunnel that wears them out physically and emotionally with many ordeals such as their continued lawsuit with SM, and the TV appearance restrictions that face them due to this problem, this is something they had been anticipating from the start. JYJ, who sing of hope amidst the chaos and adversities that surround them, are thankful of and treasure even the smallest things, as if they’ve embraced once more the feelings they had during their times as rookies.

What should be especially noted is that fans are an absolute presence to them. If talk of fans came up even when we were conversing pleasantly, their voices would drop deeper, and their eyes would tear up. We listened to JYJ’s story of spreading their presence out into the world with the fans’ support on their backs.

-What’s different about having activities as JYJ than before? What are the good and bad points?

▲ A good point would be that we’ve definitely fixed what needed to be fixed contract-wise, and the agency and the artiste are now on equal levels. We control what we do and how we do it from the beginning to the end. Those would be the advantages and we’ve formed an attachment to them.

A disadvantage could be that our current agency is weaker system-wise than our past one as it is quite new, which may be causing some of the ordeals we are still facing. But we don’t see it as a disadvantage because we see this as the process of becoming stronger. We are slowly but surely strengthening our system.

-The two members of TVXQ under SM will begin their activities in January? What do you think about this?

▲ We hope everything goes well for them. Our two friends’ comeback is something to welcome and we wish to support it. But honestly, we do feel sad that they’re using the name TVXQ. It’s not that they are TVXQ and we are JYJ. We consider ourselves as TVXQ before JYJ. It isn’t that the name TVXQ and the members are separate, it is that the name is meaningful only when the five of us are together. That is why we decided, after much thought and consideration, to use our initials to create JYJ instead of using the name of our group TVXQ so their decision makes us feel all the more sad with mixed emotions.”

-The Beginning album is in English. Why is it in English? Why did you choose to make a worldwide album?

▲ It’s not that we insisted that it had to be in English, we just decided to create a worldwide album because we have fanbases, not only in Korea, but in other places such as Asia and the US. We are so happy to have been able to meet with such top producers.

-Participation by representative artistes such as Kanye West and Rodney Darkchild Jerkins made your album a hot issue. What was it like?

▲ Before we met them, we felt a little pressured and wanted to keep our distance because they are such famous individuals. But once we met them, we found them to be great people who made us feel comfortable. Though we were distant at first, in the end, we felt that, ‘They’re people, just like us.”

-Your concert ended recently. There were many ups and downs, but how does it feel to have ended your concert well?

▲ The story of the concert is like a movie. We prepared so much, our anticipation was so high and we did our best to get ready, but we were met with hail and snow on the first day, which meant that we had to take down the roof cover that we had devoted the most time and energy on; it was so distressing. Because of this, there were 3~4 programs that we didn’t get to show our fans and we were upset because it felt as though we had failed to keep our promise to our fans.

But we were satisfied with the new type of choreography that we tried out with America’s best choreographers, the performances and the new songs. We were happy to have fans there with their warm support though it was such a cold day and we believe that the concert was a satisfactory one overall. After it was over, the members got together and cried our eyes out. We suffered by sleeping two, three hours in a week and there were many up and downs, but we feel happy to know that we showed our fans everything we wanted to show them.

-The lyrics for the song ‘Pierrot’ became a hot topic because of their profound meaning. What meaning do your compositions have for you? Do you write songs in your spare time? Does that mean we can presume that these compositions will be included in a new album soon?

▲ We do not feel that you have to write songs in order to be a musician. We write songs in our spare time for fans because we like music and we enjoy composing music and find it fun. Another reason is because we wanted to sing songs in Korean for our Korean fans at our concert. Because the songs were well-received, we want to release a commemoration album and we’re preparing one right now.

(Jaejoong) For the songs I composed, I wrote them thinking back to the times when I first began writing songs. Nine, which was written with the most basic chords in music, is meaningful as it reminisces of past memories, and I wrote Pierrot because I’ve always wanted to write a song criticizing society, much like many of the songs that came out during our rookie days, and I wanted to write about the stories of students trapped in school.

-Haven’t there been interferences in your activities, such as problems with appearing on TV and distributing your OST? How do you feel about these?

▲ We think it would be more adequate to call them hindrances, rather than interferences. Those were difficult times. But this was something we had anticipated from the start. It’s hard to decide to leave your agency if you aren’t prepared to accept that you may never be able to sing on stage again. We had mixed feelings and would think ‘How could they do such a thing’ at times, but we never gave up and thanks to our fans and our management family, we were able to reap good results. We believe we are now making great progress.

-We can’t not talk about the lawsuit. Recently, there has been much talk about your relationship with C-JeS, your current agency, what kind of contract do you have with them?

▲ C-JeS isn’t our ‘entertainment agency’, they are our ‘management agency’. We are trying to integrate a system that has never been tried before in Korea but is used in Japan and the US. It is where you sign a contract for each specialized job, such as management, distribution and advertisement. Not only are we using this system because we can’t sign on with another entertainment agency, but also because we want to work hard with a sense of duty as many people are watching to see what we’ll do next. C-JeS respects artistes and have been taking the role of an assistant till now, helping us to achieve good results.

-Your Japanese agency decided to suspend your activities indefinitely due to your relationship with C-JeS, what will happen to your future activities in Japan?

▲ It’s a frustrating problem. We’re trying as hard as we can to resolve the issue.

-Please say a couple of words to greet 2011 for your fans, who have been waiting to meet JYJ.

▲ (Yoochun) Because 2011, full of hope, is approaching, I don’t want to talk about this and that of my past anymore though it may be hard to keep it in. JYJ is prepared to show you the ‘epitome of working hard’ by working as hard as we can. I want to meet with fans in a casual environment. Next year, I will have fun while participating in our activities.

(Jaejoong) Me too. I don’t know what I should say because I have so many things to say, but honestly, these days I feel a bit confused. Please take this in a good way. I was confused as to who I should put as my priority in my life, is it me, is it our fans who helped me overcome the many waves that crashed down on my life, or is it best to prioritize both myself and our fans. People probably saw the fluctuations in my emotions through the tweets on my Twitter account. If I think of myself before others, I feel cold-hearted but if I think of our fans before others including myself, tears spring to my eyes. It’s been hard trying to find a balance, but I don’t think there will be any days in the future that were harder than those early this year. I will work hard for myself and for others.

(Junsu) What I can honestly say is that it’s a miracle that we’ve been able to come so far though we’ve gone through so many ridiculous ups and downs and it’s all thanks to our fans that we’ve been able to attain such an opportunity. I sincerely thank our fans. And our members, who held on much better than I did. I’ve been able to stay strong thanks to those two. We’ll keep knocking as hard as we can to open up more doors and possibilities.

[TRANS] 101221 SKKS Park Yoochun Interview – “Best Newcomer Award? I think Yoon Shi Yoon will win.”

With regards to the Best Newcomer Award for the 2010 KBS Drama Awards, there has already been talks about it “not losing out to the big awards.” This is because among the nominees are Yoon Shi Yoon and Joo Won from “Baker King Kim Tak Goo,” which enjoyed ratings of nearly 50%, as well as Park Yoochun, who challenges acting in a drama for the first time in “SungKyunKwan Scandal.”

In comparison to “Baker King Kim Tak Goo,” “SungKyunKwan Scandal’s” ratings are not as high, but has a large following, and created a lot of buzz during its airing.

In a recent interview with Newsen, Park Yoochun, when asked if he was looking forward to winning the Best Newcomer Award, he said, “ I want to win it, and it would be good if I could,” however, “I think that Yoon Shi Yoon will probably win.”

“Actually, I am very surprised to even be nominated, because this is my first project. So far, I still don’t feel like my acting is good, so I would be rather embarrassed if I won the award.”

Listening in on one side, fellow JYJ member Kim Jaejoong said, “Junsu won the Best Newcomer Award at the 16th Korean Musical Awards with Mozart, so if Yoochun could win as well, it would be good.” He also said, “While others were concentrated on acting, Yoochun also had to focus on the showcase as well as concert.”

Aside from Kim Junsu, who will be working on “Tears of Heaven” following “Mozart,” Kim Jaejoong and Park Yoochun said, “If there is a chance, we hope to continue being active in the acting arena via dramas and movies.”

Also, JYJ will be performing “Chajatta” from the “SungKyunKwan Scandal” OST at the 2010 KBS Drama Awards Stage.

Living through hectic days, Changmin appears again somewhat different from before, exudes a mature allure. But when a smile appears, he becomes once again an innocent young man. Boy or man, he sways between the borders of this line. Regarding work and love, he will keep moving forward, towards the season that is not only once in a life time. Because of this, he has the radiance that makes people unable to look away.

Growing into a mature man, Changmin’s dazzling “present day”
At the filming site when Changmin casually took off his outfit, I was surprised by his well-trained shoulders. It made people think about wild deer’s neck and shoulders, the not significant outlines he had in the past, now is filled with power.

In the past… Which was a year or year and a half ago…

“I started going to the gym a year ago. Not only my muscles got trained, but my body is a lot stronger as well. It’s because I was too skinny before. Whenever I wear cloth, I want to look more manly, more handsome for everyone to see, so I started to train my body.” As a model, there are many more opportunities of standing in front of the camera. With height of 186cm as a weapon already, yet he still felt the difficulty of performing solo. As TVXQ’s magnae that was used to be surrounded by his hyungs, when he appears in front of you it would feel as if he was another person. Before debut, he was very shy. When talking about his stage name “Choikang=Max”, he still feels it doesn’t suit him. When people say “You are very sexy”, our shy 22-year-old replies “That’s too much pressure, so embarrassing.” “Recently I have been taking singing and dancing lessons, during training, I felt my limits and shortcomings, thus it makes me impatient. On the other hand, it proves that on this path, I still have a lot a lot of room to improve. So even if there is pressure, I think I’m still very happy… Or you can say I’m happy to move forward? Maybe it’s like that.”

Q1. Yoochun-kun also acted in Japan, therefore, is there any difference between acting in Korea or Japan? Also, in the future, do you want to continue the performing arts life or a keen singer’s activities?

A: How to say… I have never ventured the acting field before, so it’s hard for me to tell the difference between the two. Regarding acting, I have a lot of trouble and so as well as a singer’s activities. But since this kind of work was given to me, I will try to do my best to do well. This kind of mindset during this period of time acting in “Sungkyunkwan Scandal,” allows me to do my best filming holding on to the thought of giving a good performance for everyone.

Q2. To Yoochun-kun, what is exercise? Is is the same as the relationship between water and oil?

A: I don’t hate exercising. Now I want to do my best to try maintaining my face and my physique. Hahaha…

Q3. Yoochun-hyung/oppa, in challenging acting for a drama for the first time in Korea, is there any secret method of acting training?

A: I accepted acting coaching such as pronunciation and voice training and they can also be considered as secret methods. But between practice and actual performance in front of the camera, there is still a large gap. I asked the director a lot, as well as the sunbae actors (seniors) and the other actors I acted alongside with, and they pointed out to me the parts where I didn’t act too well and as much as possible putting in much effort to correct them. As I watched my scenes, I questioned how it could be like… Orderly learning how to do shoots.

Q4. Micky Yoochun! While you’re acting as a “perfect guy,” when are the moments that you think that “Ah! This perfect guy is so cool!”? And where do you think that you are similar to “perfect guy”?

A. No matter what others say, one must always follow his own principles! As Seonjun is a person who lives uprightly, I think a character with that kind of charisma is hard to find nowadays. In the drama, Seonjun is forced to be a person who upholds his own principles and one of the reasons is due to his father. The kind of pressure that Seonjun feels due to his living condition is what I felt the common thing about us. I felt much pressure during this period of time at work too. Unlike what I thought it would be, the pressure does not come from me being a star but a feeling of losing myself. However, this feeling gradually disappears as the pressure from acting disappears.

Q5. Yoochun-hyung/oppa, in Japan you also said the line “Strip down,” and in Korea you said “Take it off” (old formal way of speech), how do you feel about these kinds of lines?

A: Ahaha. So depressing. In the drama, it’s normal to say that as everyone thinks that Yoonhee is a male. Embarrased for no reason…

Announcer: You've finally made your debut in America. How do you feel right now?
Jaejoong: For me, should I say it's somewhat similar to when we debuted in Japan? We're introducing our own music through new words, to a new world, so I'm feeling really nervous.

Junsu: Although I'm really nervous about our American debut, but I'm even more nervous over speaking Japanese (for the first time) in such a long time.

Announcer: But your Japanese is really good... Your (debut) album... Although I think it must be great, how do you feel about the album?
Yoochun: My first thought was that I must work hard for this.

Jaejoong: I want to know as soon as possible what everyone feels as they listen to our songs.

Yoochun: Recently for me... it's really painful but, I've been craving Japan's tonkatsu ramen. (Jaesu laugh) It's really painful...

Announcer: Meeting these three in New York and talking to them.. never did it occur to me that the topic would move on to tonkatsu ramen.

Jaejoong: I'm glad (to hear that).

Junsu: Yeah

Announcer: Did you ever think that such a day would come?

Yunho’s interview was a part of NHK Today's Close-up (T/N: in Japanese, Close-up 現代), a very long running and solid news information program. (T/N: 30 minutes' program.)
This time, the KPOP whirlwind in Japan, "Behind the Storm Attack of Korean Idols" was the topic. Yunho's interview (approx 33 seconds) was in a part titled "Check! The secrets of the idol training system."

Woody: What kind of activities do you usually do when you visit Thailand?
JJ: Massage
YC: We normally go to the massage place that we often go, not the one in the hotel.

Woody: The massagers don’t scream at you when they see you?

JJ : But they probably pay more attention in giving us massage more than usual or adding us extra hour.

[TRANS] 261010 Xiah JunSu Musical Concert - Levay Latest Interview

Composer Levay, came to Korea for "Kim Junsu Musical Concert".

Grammy awards winning "Mozart" and "Elizabeth" composer Sylvester Levay once again visited Korea for "Kim Junsu Musical Concert" dated on 7th October. The musical will include exciting tracks like "Mozart" and "Elizabeth" which will debut in Korea in 2012.

After arriving in Korea, Levay had been concentrating and working hard with the orchestra for the performances. We met him on the 5th when he had some free time.

PD: We heard that you are very busy at the moment because of the preparation for "Kim Junsu Musical Concert."

On the 1st of this month, I went to the practice room alone and I met up with the actor. Thou was the feeling back at 'Mozart' performances, but Korean musical actors capability are not any less than actors from other countries. This time round, it was the orchestra which made me very surprised. They were very impressive. Right now, the director Kim Mun-Jeong had ended with the overall practice; I'm currently going through the process of blending the atmosphere (to match the performance). The modifications I brought up were all accepted positively and were corrected even further. This is really not an easy job.

PD: It was said that Mr. Levay played a big role while planning for this musical. I'm very curious why would you name this musical as "Kim Junsu Musical Concert."

After "Mozart!" ended, I went to Munich and watched Kim Junsu's concert DVD as a singer. After looking through at a few information regarding his performances, the thought of "It would be so much better if Junsu could performance once more on stage" deepens. I tried to proceed with this idea and thus, there was a musical concert as a result.

By saying "performance," I didn't mean a performance whereby he only sings, but including more of the musical genre; this way it could present a different Kim Junsu and that he would have the opportunity to climb to another level of success with this musical concert. I had this kind of thoughts.

With wonderful tracks from "Elizabeth" which had not been opened to the Korean audience, and also actors from one of their favourites - "Mozart!" to complete this colorful performance. German musical actor star Uwe Kröger who had also cast in "Mozart!", "Miss Saigon", and "Phantom" will be starring in this musical as well. At the end of the musical, the song composed for Junsu will also be known; I will personally play the piano accompaniment and present Junsu who will be the first one performing this song.

PD: There is big anticipation regarding your composition for Kim Junsu.

Both of us had started communicating when we first met each other. We shared our stories about this and that. Junsu requested from me if I could write a song for him, and of course, I had agreed. I feel that if Junsu's music world and mine was to meet with each other, it will comprise of a very meaningful world. When I was writing it, I did not have the thoughts of targeting it as the musical's theme song nor was it pop music, I was simply and purely producing a song. I wanted to share the story we interacted by a music piece and so that Kim Junsu can hundred percent display his charming voice.

PD: I heard that you went to every stop of Kim Junsu's "Mozart!" It's also said that you rated highly of his talents.

Yes, I'm a fan (laugh). After seeing Kim Junsu at the practice room and I had that feeling of "This friend does really know how to run forward." He has surprising talents and is a very intelligent friend. His emotional voice in "Mozart!" is the first thing which attracted me. The rich emotions moved me deeply. Even though one's singing abilities are important, it is important as well to know how to express your emotions while singing.

PD: You must have also received the hanbok as a gift from Kim Junsu's fans as well.

Oh, I must express that I am really very thankful to them! It was really a beautiful hanbok (laugh). It is a wonderful thing to be seeing enthusiastic fans in Korea, Europe, Japan and from other countries as well.

PD: We are also looking forward to "Elizabeth" which will be first open up in Korea through “Kim Junsu’s Musical Concert”.

We will be able to watch 6 brilliant performances for the concert this time. I’ve also heard that there was a huge curiosity regarding the chosen casts. It was confirmed to be performed approximately on the year 2012; however, the selected casts are not notified yet. That was due to the actors’ schedules. The producer and I wished that there are at least 3 to 4 names who was selected for this performance will chosen. Another thing that I was more certain was that I wished “Elizabeth” lead actor will have Kim Junsu’s name on it.

PD: In “Elizabeth,” what are the important points for that led to responsive Korean audience?

First of all, if it could be as well-loved as “Mozart”, then it will be really amazing. The life of a sixteen-year-old woman to the Empress Elizabeth, by focusing on these fundamentals, there are quite a number of parts which could move the Korea audience. Her desires to be freed from the strict rules of the imperial palace is similar as to the issues of today's life. Characters such as Death who will be introduced as her love, and also other roles as well does meet the Koreans' conditions of charismatic. I think that this will definitely relates to the Korea audiences. Please enjoy the rest of the story through the performance.

PD: I had heard that "Elizabeth" female lead is a very fascinating character.

Yes, even though it is a difficult role to play as one have to 100% display the character perfectly with one's singing and acting abilities, she is able to show that. One has to digest the characters from a 16 year-old to a 60-year-old. Despite that I had not met her personally, I had troubles selecting which Korean theme songs would be most suitable.

PD: What are your afterthoughts after contacting with Korean musical?

First of all, I will have to fanatically praise every part. I've watched the musical "Hero"; the actors, stage, music, storyline and dance are very outstanding. This is an opportunity for me to know how talented Koreans are. From "Mozart!”, I started with this thinking -- "Isn't the time frame for preparation too short?". However, when I stepped into Korea, and I saw the enthusiasm and how attentive that the actors and backstage workers are, I understood, "Ah, as long as there's positive attitudes, everything is possible."

After the short rehearsals, I do not have any negative points to say about Korean musical. It is because it is really, very amazing.

PD: Something to say to the audience of "Kim Junsu Musical Concert"?

It is going to be very special. You will be able to see different sides of a singer and a musical actor Kim Junsu, able to encounter the unforgottable touching moments created by the awesome orchestra and the actors. 4 new songs which will surprise the audience will be played as well; this is a secret! Come and witness this for yourself.

[TRANS] 100917 Changmin - NON-NO Magazine Q&A

Q: It seems as though the filming for your debut television drama has been completed, what did you find most difficult?

Since the production for the drama lasted all the way from January to June this year, I honestly felt like it took forever. In Korea, dramas are usually broadcasted as they are being filmed, but since mine is being produced before its broadcast, things are a little out of the ordinary. However, because I had to film practically every day, it was tough managing my physical condition. In contrast to life as a singer, it demanded a lot more self-control. Also, since this was my first time, I wasn't really able to get a good grasp on my own lifestyle. Even though the filming took place at Jeju Island, in the southern parts of Korea, I had to fly back and forth from Seoul to Jeju all the time, and sometimes even Japan. Having to travel around like that was actually quite exhausting.

Q: Is it true that Yunho came to show his support at your filming location?

Mmhm, he came twice. Once with some members of staff and once with some friends, they just came all of a sudden!! I was really scared. Yunho made me even more nervous than usual!! Because I wasn't used to the filming location, I was also worried that I'd cause trouble for the staff. Of course, I was glad that he came. It wasn't in Seoul or in Japan, he'd come all the way to Jeju Island just for me. But! I didn't really feel all that at the time (laughs), so after his visit, I said to Yunho 'Don't come to the filming location unless you've made yourself an appointment!!'

Q: Artist (singer), actor, model, how are they different from one another?

When you sing, you're conveying an entire story in the timespan of 3-4 minutes, whereas when you're acting, you've got 40 minutes to an entire hour to portray a whole variety of emotions, some more extreme, some more subtle. You can't really miss out any details, to me, it's a lot more difficult than singing. Modeling is also quite different from singing and acting. You can't straightforwardly express something. A lot of the time, when you're being photographed, it's more a matter of knowing how to work your expression to adequately match with the clothes you're wearing. These kind of shoots are really difficult. But no matter what type of job it is, their similarity is that they demand one to express one's feelings and emotions. I've been a shy person ever since I was young, so I'm really not good at communicating and interacting with other people. Recently, I've changed a lot. Becoming an actor during such difficult times has made me more conscious of my limits.

Q: What would be your ideal life?

I'm not like how I used to be, releasing singles and albums all the time, living a busy chaotic life. Up until now, I've always had packed schedules literally every day. This sudden decrease in work load… to be honest, I feel really lonely at times. For the past few years, my life has always been governed by my schedule, so I'm not really used to having so much time on my hands. At first I thought 'Oh well, no worries, it'll be okay.' But now that I'm starting to get used to it, I've learnt to enjoy life. There are things that I can do to help myself grow and mature, I've got a lot of learning to do. Amongst all those things, right now, I'm most passionate about boxing. I started doing it because people kept persuading me, but I've come to realize that on top of being good for stress relief, it's also an activity that brings you happiness. Whether it be my upper body or my lower body, rather than saying I've gotten more muscular, I think I just feel like my muscles have gotten harder. Besides that, I've learnt a lot with regards to acting, singing and dancing. Oh and I go to the boxing training centre all the time!! To me, a time like this is a time worth cherishing.

Q: What do you do when you're at home?

Listen to music and then sleep like I'm dead (laughs). I'm also really into reading. At the moment, I'm reading Haruki Murakami's new release 'IQ84".

Q: Where have you been going in your free time recently?

The basketball courts! I go around twice a week with Yunho and our manager. We play three against three. Even tough I'm not very good at it, I like sports that make me sweat. Since it's pretty much like a public part there, it's available 24 hours a day. We don't just play basketball, we've been going bowling more frequently than we used to. Our scores now are around 150 points at best, and the average is around 120-130. This was never the case before! Besides wondering why bowling balls are so heavy, we're really too interested in the rest (laughs).

Q: (We) really want to hear Changmin sing

I've been practicing. When I listen to artists that I like, I'll try and sing a long to their songs, imitating their enunciation and small habits. When I train myself like that, I'll think 'Oh, so this is where I'm lacking.' I've been really obsessed with bands lately, not only Korean bands, but also Japanese, European and American groups, I quite like them. Lately, the song that I think is the best is Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody'. Even though I can't really sing it too well, I really like the song. I listen to it all the time.

Q: How have you grown since debuting in your second year of high school?

I don't thing 'growing' is really the right way to put it. There have been some changes. Most people who start working whilst they're still in their childhood hold the same kind of attitude, they feel like everything revolves around work and they get to see or experience anything outside of it. I used to be like that too, I felt like I was always having cameras shoved in my face and being interviewed wherever I went. But because this is a job that I got from the hands of others, I also have slightly different values. I've developed my own perception of the world in ways that an ordinary student would never be able to comprehend. It's just that I'm in my 20s now and I'm more capable of devoting myself to friendships and romantic relationships. Things like that need to be cherished and I don't want to have to avoid them anymore. As time is lost, I've grown to really treasure these things. Recently, i've been thinking to myself that rather than those around me, I'm actually the one constantly confining and suppressing myself. I put a lot of pressure on myself and I've finally come to notice that. I'm not going to let myself do that.

Q: What do you want to be to your fans?

I want to be like a nutrient to other people. I hope that my presence will help raise people's spirits. I'm really grateful of all the support I've received from everybody, but I think it would be really terrible if that becomes all they ever do. I hope that those who support me will learn to cherish and enjoy the time that they have and will learn to support one another. I'll work hard to become that kind of person.

Q: What would you like to do the most this year?

If possible, I'd really like to go to the US. I was really passionate about learning english when I was young, so I can understand it pretty well, but speaking is a little more difficult. It's the same with Japanese, so I'm actually really interested in languages at the moment. I really really want to learn english again.

Q: What can we expect from Changmin in the days to come?

Even though I feel a little irresponsible saying this, I really am expecting a lot from myself, so I hope that my fans are anticipating my future endeavors just as I am myself. As an individual, I hope that I'll be able to remain the honest person I am without causing trouble for other people. That is the goal I will work towards.

Q: It's a shame that there aren't a lot of opportunities to meet with your fans. Please write a message to all of your Japanese supporters!

Hello everybody, I'm really doing very well! Since I've been modeling a lot more recently, I've been working very hard to maintain good physical condition so that I'll be able to look as good as possible in my photoshoots.
