[TRANS] 110112 Popteen Magazine - February 2011 Issue - Group Interview
Two of them living together, it feels good; an existence like that of family.
Q. Firstly, please talk about your activities that took place in 2010.
YH: My solo activities included the Michael Jackson tribute concert, a musical, as well as a web-drama.
CM: I was filming for the drama from January to June, as well as participating in photoshoots for magazines.
YH: Also, as TVXQ, the both of us took part in SM TOWN concerts in various countries like Korea, China and America.
Q. With the start of 2011, the activities for the both of you in Japan will also begin. Are you still living together?
CM: Yes. We go bowling occasionally.
Q. The two of you together, doesn't it catch people's eyes?
YH: That's why we'll go with our mangers, but we still get recognized (laughs). But if people greet me, I'll respond naturally, so it's not like I mind being recognized in particular.
CM: I mind. I don't really like crowded places, so I'll bowl separately on purpose. But I still get recognized...
YH: But it's not a bad thing that both of us live together.

It is essential for me to have time to fall in love, I want to have more time, just a little bit more...
It is said that in Korea, flowery boy is used to describe a person with attractive appearance.
Beautiful like a flower, and smell as nice as a flower.... the slender beautiful lad who stands out like a character from the shoujo manga, is Changmin!
The staff suggested to completely unbutton his shirt. Due to this, Changmin was very shy and rejected strongly, 'No no, It's okay to have my shirt buttoned!' However, he compromised halfway. (laughs) 'I don't usually let people see that!' In the end he still showed a bit of his physical beauty. Undoubtedly, he is a 'flowery boy'.
'No, it is not like that. My female friends have never told me that, maybe because I am not that popular...'
Seeing him being so modest, Ninagawa san told him, '(You) become more mature if compared to the past.' 'This really makes me happy.' Changmin said.
'I have indeed changed a little. Even though I still can't be considered as aggresive, but I've begun to realise that I need to express my feelings straightforwardly to the girl I like. I will be very careful before I confess to her. I will take into consideration of the character, moral values and lifestyle, to see whether we can get along well. Saying 'I love you' when meeting for the first time, this is most probably attracted only by the appearance. I was like that before, but there are many beautiful girls in this world! So I would like to find someone who can match perfectly with me.'

[TRANS] 100811 FRAU September Issue - Changmin
Changmin arrived in Japan on the rainy night. Although this time he had tight schedule and only managed to spend two days and one night in Japan, but because it was the first time to do photo shooting in a comfortable old Japanese-style house with good ventilation, so Changmin's stress expression was slowly relieved.
'This is my first time to be photographed in this old Japanese style house, it does made people feel comfortable. It has been a long time since my last time to spend time at home properly. I hope that one day, I can decorate the room with simple style and the style that suits me.'
Especially these past six months, because of his first challenge in acting, he almost had no leisure time. He had to rush between Seoul and Jeju Island to film his drama series, and had been very busy everyday. Either it was the recitation of lines, or living together with co-actors and staff, they were fresh experiences for Changmin.
'This is really an experience that I need to begin from zero, so it is very difficult for me. Before this, I always work with people who are very close to me, however this time I have to work with new acquaintances, which is a big difference for me. Since I know nothing in acting, so I always try not to trouble the others by memorizing the lines well. In every single day during filming process, while I was learning, I was working hard too. The role I played is a male character, who although has a lot of weak points, but still enjoys high popularity. The character maybe slightly different from me (lol). If according to the genre, it should be a happy romantic comedy. If there’s a chance to be broadcasted in Japan, please make sure to watch it!!’
Before this, Changmin who accumulated his abilities and showing his charm on stage as a singer, now he will have the opportunity to show everyone his fresh side which hasn’t been discovered previously, a new side which is totally different from him singing on stage.
‘Even though I am embarrased to say this, but during this period of time, I trully feel that I have grown, and have cherished myself more than before. I have always been showing myself without reservation to everyone as a singer, but through the challenge in acting this time, I begin to realise this issue for the first time, which is how to express myself in a better way. The things that I have learned by practising the acting skills, they are going to be valuable experiences in my future as an artist.’
‘I usually spend my leisure time by watching anime “One Piece”, or focus in my favourite games until I become an expert in it(lol). I refuse to give up in things I like, further more I am the type of person who will completely ignore the surroundings if I am interested in something.’
‘Work is important to me no matter when.’
‘Because of this, in order to memorize the lines well during the filming process, I need to control the desire to read my favourite book.’
‘Because my father is a Korean language teacher, hence I have been educated to read book whenever there is a chance since I was small. I am reading even in plane. Since I’m not good in Hanja (chinese characters), so I always read books written in Hangul (Korean’s characters). For example novels, philosophy books, proses, etc.
“Secret” is a book which documenting the secret of success of many people. I got the inspiration of “Able to realise your dreams if keep on working hard with a positive manner” from there. My favourite novel is Haruki Murakami’s “Norwegian Wood”. Although the generation is different, but I am same age with the lead character in the book. Haruki Murakami’s novel not only interesting, but also inspiring. I like the time when I am reading the book, I get indulged in the world created by the author. I am looking forward to his new novel ‘1Q84’.
During the interview, Changmin often showed us his bright smile. When he saw the staff who was explaining the interesting points of the Ipad enthusiastically, he laughed and said, ‘Why do you look like a salesman?’ When he talked about a touching Korean novel he read previously which describes a Salmon’s life, he couldn’t recall the title. So he laughed and said, ‘I am really absent-minded.’ Changmin had brought so much happiness to everyone surrounding him.
One of the staff said, when the professional Korean baseball team ‘Twines’ which Changmin worships had won the match, he analysed himself as,’if compared to the others, I am consider the emotional type of person.’ When he was asked the way to relieve his depression, his answer was driving a car late at night. Last week I was depressed too with unknown reason, so I drove alone to Incheon’s coast at 10pm. Although I went back after just staring blankly at the sea, but the activities like hiking, going for a walk can adjust my mood, so it is very important to me.’
Changmin who had spent his 20 years in fast pace, has never thought of retreating. In his mind only appears one thought, that is to move forward step by step pragmatically. Changmin who steps on stage as a singer and actor, is only 22 years old. His adventure has just begun. In the future, he will definitely show us the side which is hidden behind his innocent smile and yet to be discovered by us.

Yunho: To lift your head up high while moving forward happily is better than lowering your head in sorrow
'Acting is a new challenge, and the character gives me positive thinking.'
With the height of 184cm, fascinating beautiful dancing and captivated vocal. Artist who is able to use this superiority to steal away someone’s soul in Japan is Yunho. As TVXQ's leader who leads the members, he has to control his desire more than anyone else.
Today, standing at the highest idol position, he still hasn't satisfied with it, day after day, he continues to strive hard repeatedly. To be able to encounter a new self, he continuously tries the new challenge. That's the actor he challenged. Last year, through drama 'HTTG' which broadcasted in Korea, he revealed his acting skills as a new actor, and induced a hot topic.
'From the view of everyone in Japan, heading to the ground is a bit shocking way of saying. Because the ground is wide and thick, it is going to be very painful if heading there, and at the same time is very strange too. (lol) However, in Korea it has the meaning of having courage to try even though impossible to made it, it is a proverb which can be used to express surprise reaction in daily conversation. For example, you can say like this to a guy who wants to confess to a girl who seems to be unapproachable. "That is heading to the ground!! (lol)"
Bong Goon which is starred by Yunho is a soccer player, who is passionate towards things around him. After disbandment of his team, he overcomes adversity and finally becomes a top player.
For me, this drama series is also 'heading to the ground'. Because I challenged stunt action in this drama, I had let the people around me worried, and I was disheartened too, "Am I able to play Bong Goon's role well?" However, the person who supported me at that moment was still Bong Goon. Whenever I feel troubled and uneasy, I will always think of, "What will Bong Goon do?" He will overcome the hardship whenever he faces difficulties. He is a strong and confident person. When I attached myself to this character, I have the same attitude as him, therefore I manage to overcome whatever obstacle in front of me.
During the interview, Yunho smiled and said, 'I realised I have becoming Bong Goon!!"
'Life is not only full of happiness. Even after the ending of the drama too, there are still sad and sorrow moments. Whenever that happened, Bong Goon in my heart will wake up my never give up spirit.’
The dangerous path can turn into the treasure of life if keep on walking on it.
Yunho said he became optimistic after meeting Bong Goon. He mentioned the similarity he shared with him, since Bong Goon is a strong person who overcomes hardship by his own too. His working experiences in his youth to earn for his sister's school fees, and in order to pursue his dreams as an artist, Yunho who spent few years without seeing the day of debut after he passed audition when he was 14 years old.
'In fact, I am originally a positive thinking person. However, if compared to the past, the method is a bit different now. For example, in the past I had the consciousness about my responsibility as a leader. I need to let the others heard "it’s ok" this kind of saying every time, and always been keeping this positive frame of mind. However, even I don't have this kind of responsibility now, I will still naturally think of whether there is a need to say "ah, it is ok." Now I become gentler to myself. After I overcome hardship with Bong Goon, I understand that something can be learned from any obstacle. Even it is a dangerous path, if do not give up and continue to walk along it, it will also turn into my pathway to prosperity in successful life. Because of this thought, the previous feelings of insecurity and fear had disappeared.
The most important is "Shouldn't lower your head in sorrow but lift up your head to move forward happily" With the smile on his face, till where does Yunho proceed now?
'My target is, as an artist, to be able to compose songs which can be maintained in everyone's heart. And then, show everyone my different images. Due to this, I am working hard to discover the new side of me as an artist Yunho.
Today is a special day. In order to keep on improving, training and various courses for sure can't be left out. Having tight schedule everyday, don't you feel stress?
‘I will go out at that time. I will be jogging along Han River, and sometimes off to the sea. Feeling the speed, and the beautiful scenery outside the car's windows are unforgettable. I become energetic once I reached home.'
The life of going to and fro between Korea and Japan is tiring. 'Although it is difficult, but I am enjoying it too.' Yunho laughed while saying this.
'Japan has motsu steamboat, donburi, curry udon, curry... Japan has a lot of delicious cuisine isn’t it? (lol) This afternoon I have eaten my favourite gyudon. It is really delicious!'
Yunho, who will think over things he has done in one day under the blanket before sleeping.
'I feel a bit lonely at that moment. Because today already ended, and couldn't turn it back. Due to this, everyday is important to me and I have to work hard everyday. If continue to accumulate the special everyday, every year, and a lifetime, it will turn into something special. Is today going to be a wonderful day? In fact it is! Can attend SPUR's photo shooting session I feel very glad, and because I have eaten gyudon this afternoon too!' (lol)
