[TRANS] 110405 Exclusive Interview - JYJ Bangkok Concert: Kim Junsu Thanks Members' Encouragement

Male idol group JYJ started their world tour at their first stop - Bangkok - with two concerts held on April 2nd and 3rd.

In the press conference held before the concert, Junsu revealed his thoughts on working under the name of 'JYJ.' The three members of JYJ left TVXQ due to the lawsuit with their former agency SM Entertainment, and then subsequently announced their comeback and released their first worldwide album "The Beginning" on October 3rd of last year. With the help of famous rappers Kanye West and Rodney Jerkins, "The Beginning" caused a preorder craze before the album even hit the stores - creating a record of 520,000 preorders and being sold out of both online and actual record stores. Furthermore, JYJ was listed as fifth on the Billboard's 2010 Top 10 Favourite Albums - creating a stir in the music scene.

Regarding this, Junsu said, "Being listed in the Billboard's Reader Polls, even before the album was officially released, was a very memorable achievement. We were proud of that." He then continued calmly, "Mm, the only negative thing about entering the polls was that aside from us, no one else knew about it. There were also fans that only knew that our songs were being composed by famous singers. There were also people that thought we were just doing nothing during our break." This revealed the pain that Junsu felt during that period of time.

JYJ Kim Junsu said, “We can not do our activities is a strange thing. As a Korean singer in South Korea yet being so difficult to stand on stage, this is the most unfortunate thing as a singer.”
Kim Junsu also added, “In my opinion, a Korean entertainment industry where artists can have equal relations (with their agency) and also be able to sing and dance seems to be what everyone in entertainment industry want.”
JYJ Kim Junsu, Kim Jaejoong, and Park Yoochun applied provisional injunction against former agency SM Entertainment in 2009, and afterward they started to do activities under name JYJ.
However despite the popularity of JYJ as a group, due to interest relationship among SM Entertainment and many local broadcasters, they haven’t gotten proper air time in music program to do music activities ever since.
Meanwhile, ‘News Magazine 2580′ also analyzed the complicated structure of entertainment industry where many entertainment companies are placing bet by investing huge costs to their artists so that they can generate income for them. The continuous dispute between artists and their agencies that didn’t meet amicable results were put as the indicator.

Performing for the first time in the musical "Mozart!" in January of 2010, Kim Junsu's performances were sold out in a matter of minutes, demonstrating the power of "Xiah Junsu". This is the first surprise.

Although it was the idol celebrity "Xiah Junsu" that caused the sudden sell-out of tickets, the 'New Musical Star' that melted the hearts of the audience was Kim Junsu. With this project, he earned the 'Newcomer Award' and 'Popularity Award' at the 4th Annual Musical Awards and the 16th Annual Korea Best Musical Awards.

In the beginning of October, Kim Junsu performed with composer Sylvester Levay, at his request, for the 4-day 'Kim Junsu Musical Concert - Levay And Friends". Although as a singer, he has already had the experience of performing on several concert stages, it was a new challenge for him from a musical actor point of view.

Even amidst the TVXQ embroilment, Kim Junsu "has so many things to feel blessed and thankful for". Because he has the feeling of content from performing on a stage, he predicts that there will be another "Kim Junsu" comeback as a musical actor yet to come.
