[trans] 100915 new thsk unit first foreign artist to achieve double crown in album & dvd charts

Three members of the popular group Tohoshinki (currently on hiatus) formed a new unit JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN (Junsu, Jejung, Yuchun) and the DVD of their first LIVE concert 『THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME』 (released on 8 September) sold 119,000 copies in its first week of sales, clinching the number one spot on the 20/9 Oricon Overall DVD Weekly Ranking. Their mini-album 『The...』 (first week's sale of 140,000 copies), which was released on the same day, also claimed the number one spot on the same week's Weekly Album Ranking, thus achieving a double crown. 

The last artist to top both the overall album and DVD weekly rankings in the same week was during the 11/6 chart in 2006, 3 years and 10 months ago, with ZARD's 『Golden Best ～15th Anniversary～』 album and 『ZARD Le Portfolio 1991-2006』 DVD, in which ZARD became the 6th artist to achieve this. This is the first time in history that a foreign artist has achieved this feat.

The first foreign artist to ever sell over 100,000 copies of a music DVD was Tohoshinki on 10/12 in 2009 with 『4th LIVE TOUR 2009～The Secret Code～FINAL in TOKYO DOME』 (initial sales of 171,000 copies) and the 『TOHOSHINKI VIDEO CLIP COLLECTION-THE ONE-』 (initial sales of 109,000 copies) on 3/29 in 2010, and now they (t/n: in reference to JYJ) have become to second group to achieve this. 

This piece of work is a DVD recording of the last day of their 4-day LIVE concert in June this year, which attracted over 200,000 people, at the Tokyo Dome and Kyocera Dome in Osaka. The first press edition of the DVD includes special backstage footage.

[News] 100914 TVXQ New Unit Album Debuts at First Place in Weekly Ranking

JUNSU / JEJUNG / YUCHUN mini-album ‘The …’

The 3 members of popular group Tohoshinki (activities in suspension) forming a new unit JUNSU / JEJUNG / YUCHUN, their mini album ‘The…’ (release on the 8th) recorded 140,000 copies sold in its first week release, occupying first spot in 9/20 weekly ranking.

This album compiles songs that were first introduced through the 4 days performance in Kyocera and Tokyo Dome concert in last June that mobilized 200,000 audiences such as ‘Itsudatte Kimi Ni’ and other 8 songs.

The ‘CD + DVD’ album was having a simultaneous sale with the DVD entitled DVD ‘THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME’ that includes the longer version of making movie of the concert.

Members of the popular Korean group Tohoshinki, Junsu, Jejung and Yuchun formed a new unit JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN, and its debut mini-album 『The…』 which was released on 8 September, recorded approximately 71,000 copies in first day sales, topping the 7 September Daily Album Rankings in their first showing.

This album contains songs from the Tokyo & Kyocera Dome concerts held in June this year, for the 『JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME』 which attracted over 200,000 people. It includes “Itsudatte Kimi Ni”,“W” and other new songs, with a total of 4 songs recorded. It is sold in a CD+DVD and CD, a total of 2 versions. The CD+DVD contains the 4 new songs, together with their instrumental versions for a total of 8 tracks. The DVD contains Rehearsal clips from the June event. The CD version has the 4 new songs, as well as remix versions and the Live versions from the event, making it a total of 12 tracks.

3 members of Tohoshinki, the Korean Group currently on hiatus, Junsu (23), Jejung (24) and Yuchun (24) created a new unit, and in Osaka’s Kyocera Dome, their Debut Live “JUNSU/JEJUNG/YUCHUN THANKSGIVING LIVE IN DOME” has started.

Due to management company troubles, the 5 members became unable to do activities, but their popularity has not changed. Fans started queuing to purchase fangoods from 3am, and by the time sales started at 9am, over 3000 people were in the line. The 3 members responded enthusiastically, singing 18 songs with a lot of emotion, including the new song “Itsudatte Kimi ni” (Always you) to the record breaking crowd size of 46,000.

Junsu said, thankfully, “A lot of people came, so I’m very happy.” Yuchun too, said “I’m happy to be standing on the stage.” And Jejung said “I was worried that fans would not come. As long as everyone is smiling, I want to do a very thankful performance,” speaking from his heart.

They will continue performing at Kyocera dome on the 6th, and on the 12th & 13th, they will be in Tokyo Dome, and a total of 200,000 people are expected to turn up.

[Trans] The Divided Reactions Among Fans Regarding 3 Members New Unit

For 3 members TVXQ to take a further step by forming a new unit, fans reaction are clearly divided. Some fans said, “Only five members who can make TVXQ.” showing their frustration over the recent decision, while another fan said, “We must respect their will.” The conflicts are visible on the surface even among the fans.

Ever since the official announcement by AVEX about the forming of 3 members unit consisting Jejung, Junsu, and Yuchun, many conflicting opinions have been floating in many Cassiopeia site such as DNBN.

However, for the personal fans of 3 members who are included in the new unit, they gave much expectations to the performances which will be held in Osaka and Tokyo. Many of them asked an explanation about how to buy the ticket in Japan.

It’s also been rumored that regarding the signing of current exclusive contract with their management for music industry activities, the 3 TVXQ members received around 1 billion won.

Japanese media Sport News on the 15th reported that a large scale concert to mobilize 180,000 people will be thrown in Osaka and Tokyo starting from June. The newspaper as quoting message from AVEX official said, “Already planned this year from June to August, there will be stages where only 3 members participating. All photoshoots for the advertisement of the project announcement had been proceed strictly confidential.” he also said, “The name of this new unit is not yet determined, but most likely there won’t be any TVXQ songs to be performed on stage.”

The relationship atmosphere between the 3 members and TVXQ label in Korea SM Entertainment seems to be more complicated right now. Regarding the remaining 2 members activities plan, one SM official said, “Local individual activities are still in progress while for the Japan activity plan is still undecided.”
