The Showcase

Reaching the place at around noon, i was amazed by the number of ELFs who were already there, waiting patiently in line to meet their idol, some had waited overnight and others were still streaming in. Over 1,500+ lucky fans had actually managed to grab hold of the showcase ticket simply by purchasing the Galaxy S phone, by winning through competitions or by purchasing them online.

My friends who had manage to grab a ticket were scattered around therefore i constantly moved around to talk to them. There was not a need for my early presence actually since the press conference starts at 5:30pm but i was simply there to accompany them who were waiting patiently in line. It’s only fair then i think.

By the time the press conference ended, fans had already entered the showroom and were already engaging in activities to win both autograph albums and posters. A birthday song was also taught and learned during that moment, in Korean that is, for a lucky member who will be celebrating his advance birthday that night.

Within a few minutes of my arrival, the boys appeared. They started it off with their hit single, Bonamana 미인아 and fans went wild, greeting their idol with amazing enthusiasm. With the strong presence and power dance move, you could not have imagine that the boys had just barely arrived in Singapore a few hours ago with simply little rest in hand. But i must admit, the sound system then was quite -.-” and with fans screaming their heart out, little could be heard.

During their personal introduction, you could have figured out who’s the crowd favorite. Heechul introduction was simply Heechul, witty and engaging. Sadly enough, that night he was not being him. Not only him, but also the rest of the members, something was missing you could feel. Maybe it’s because they were only a nine member team then (let’s not mention about the twitter event alright).

After the wonderful start, Yesung took the stage with his balled solo “It has to be You 너 아니면 안돼”, OST from the hit drama Cinderella Sister, 신데렐라 언니. Super Junior T then took the stage and sang “Rokkugo”. During this performance, leader Leetuk had actually gotten off the stage, making fans standing in the front row squeal in delight. Well I was there right in front of him too and I just froze again. Haha.

In the middle, a surprise segment awaits Ryeowook whose birthday is approaching soon. A sweet piano cake and song was delivered to him. Other members then took this chance to taste the cake, with either the knife (Eunhyuk) or their fingers (Siwon). They even played around with the confetti with Leetuk attempting to eat some up. Ryeowook then gave a lovely speech of thanks, a heart and hope to visit Singapore once again for a concert.

They then proceeded to singing “Pajama Party” in which Siwon then playfully grabbed the camera and filmed his other members. Donghae helped a little in the middle.

The members then ended off their performance with their hit song “Sorry Sorry”. As sorry as they seem to leave fans behind, they gave out another wonderful news that night with the promise of coming back to Singapore for their Super Show 3. The short 40 minutes that fans had spent with their idols must have been worth it as some leave behind tears of enjoyment.

Though their visit to Singapore was rather short the first time, I guess Super Junior left the country with good and sweet memories of their fans. Let’s just hope the next time they visit, it will be a longer stay and they will have the time to get to know more about the fans and this tiny little island we call, Singapore ^^
